Blur faces in photos
Drop a photo and the faces and license plates in it are found and blurred on your device. Tap any blur to leave that person sharp, draw a box over anything it missed, and save the photo — with its location data removed too.

Find faces and plates
Two small detection models run on your device: one for faces, one for license plates. The first time, the plate model is a one-time 7.5 MB download; after that a photo takes a few seconds on a laptop, longer on a phone.

Choose what to blur, and save
Everything found starts blurred. Tap a blur to leave that spot sharp, check the few it is unsure about, draw a box over anything missed, then save the blurred photo.
What you get
Faces and license plates, found together
Faces are found with YuNet, plates with a YOLOv9 plate detector. Both scan the photo in overlapping tiles, so small faces at the back of a crowd are found too — not only the people in front.
You decide who stays sharp
Blur everyone, or tap to keep your friend and hide the strangers behind them. Faces and plates each switch on or off in one tap, and the detections it is unsure about are asked about one at a time.
A blur that cannot be undone
Each hidden area is reduced to a few blocks of colour before it is smoothed, so there is no detail left to sharpen back. The edges fade softly into the photo instead of leaving a hard outline.
Location and camera data removed
The saved photo is drawn fresh, so it carries no GPS position, camera model or date from the original. What you share is the picture and nothing else.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I blur faces in a photo?
- Drop the photo above and press Find faces & plates. Every face it finds is blurred straight away; tap any blur to leave that person sharp, then save. It runs in your browser, and your files are never uploaded.
- Can I blur a license plate too?
- Yes. License plates are found automatically by a separate plate detector and blurred like faces, with their own on/off switch. If a plate is at a steep angle or half hidden and is missed, draw a box over it.
- Does it find every face?
- Not always, and it does not pretend to. It finds faces that are turned towards the camera, including small ones deep in a crowd, but can miss people turned sideways, covered by a hand or cut off by the edge of the frame. Check the photo before you share it, and draw a box over anyone it missed — that box is blurred exactly like a detected face.
- Why is it asking me whether something is a face?
- It blurs anything it is unsure about. Some of what it finds may not be a face — a hand, an elbow, a patterned shirt — so it asks about those one at a time, and you can unblur any it got wrong. You do not have to answer: saving keeps everything that is currently blurred.
- Can someone unblur the photo?
- No. Before smoothing, each hidden area is reduced to about six colour samples across, so the detail is gone from the file rather than merely softened. There is nothing left for sharpening tools to recover.
- Is it free?
- Yes — free and unlimited, with no account and no watermark. It costs us nothing to run, because the detection happens on your device.
- Does it work on videos?
- Not yet — photos only (JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC). For a video you would need to blur every frame, which this tool does not do.
- Which models does it use?
- YuNet from OpenCV for faces (227 KB) and a YOLOv9-tiny license-plate detector from the open-image-models project (7.5 MB). Both run on your device's processor with ONNX Runtime; neither sees anything outside this browser tab.
